NEW SPONSOR!

They are helping support my efforts for Budds Creek and Southwick.  I couldn't thank them enough.  They are core enthusiasts! Everyone should give them a call or shop online for their next parts/bike purchase!

So the last time I said expect some top 3 finishes soon....well, sure enough I finished 2nd every moto the weekend before last at the AR State race. They ran us 11 laps in the 450 class and 8 in the lites class.  I felt strong nearly every moto despite only getting a 3-4 hours of sleep after driving myself 6 hours to the track the night before.  The night before a old good friend got married and I couldn't miss that, nor the race, so I did what I could.  I was nervous about it but it turned out really good.  Thanks to Ozzy Barbaree for letting me stay in his camper and for the vitamins.

This past weekend Nathaniel Beniot and I drove down to the TX/OK border to ride a brand new track.  Thankfully, it rained the night before as it was a sand track.  Tommy Hahn and a few other good pros were spinning some laps and it was the best practice I've recieved this year.  The track was waayyy rougher than anything around here and a good test on my stamina.  Thanks to Cody Drewek for passing the word on about the track.

Update

Excuse my lack of updates.  I've had mixed feelings about my results  this year until recently.  Things have been going really well lately, though.  I didn't get to ride much until after graduation in May but I am now getting into a good groove and feel like my old self.  I also  had a shoulder injury at the first round of the Missouri State series.  It wasn't a major injury that kept me from riding, but I didn't feel  like it was safe to work out my upper body until about three weeks  ago. I kept on racing and practicing though and things are turning around.  The weekend before last I experienced a taste of the  confidence and speed on the bike that I used to have.  I finished a  strong 2nd in the last moto of the day after starting in 7th place.

The Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma Series are providing a lot of  good competition with anywhere from 10-15 pros and a handful with pro  licenses.  It seems with each passing race I feel more and more  blessed to be competing in such a great sport with good competition.

Here are my results from my most recent races.  I've been focusing on  taking baby steps and still only expect to be finish in the top 3 at every race from here on out. Look for those results soon!

Oklahoma State Series
Rd 8 - 450, 4th and 250, 2nd

Arkansas State Series
Rd 1 - 250, 5th and 450, 5th
Rd 2 - 250, 9th (crash) and 450, 7th (crash)
Rd 3 - 250, 4th and 450, 2nd

Missouri State Series

Rd 4 - 250, 9th and 450, 4th

I raced FMF/Honda of Houston Winter Series last weekend at Oak Hill.  I've raced there a few times but the last time was two years ago at this same event. Man,  I forgot how rough the track is and how fun the layout is.  The weather couldn't have been better and it was the most fun I have had in a really long time.  I rode the 250 class and to everyone's surprise, there were 25 pros!  In staging before the first moto, it crossed my mind that maybe I wasn't ready for to be racing due to a lack of winter riding.  But, I just reminded myself that I only went to the race to have fun and spin some laps on a quality track and I ended up really excited and not nervous at all on the gate. I really surprised myself. I had a good start and ran in 6th-7th place for half the moto until I stalled the bike.  The second moto was nearly identical except I fell half way through and was around 8th place.  The result isn't something I'd be pumped on if it was the middle of the season, but it made me feel good about my ability to run up front. There were pros from all over and the racing around me was really tight. Thanks to the Arrendonos for taking me down there and if you haven't been, make the trip to Oak Hill sometime!

After a summer filled with bike problems, I am back at it! A few people told me that they thought I had quit racing at my first race back!  I was MIA for a while but there is no way I wouldn't make a  return! Racing is what I plan everything else in my life around..haha. For now at least.

Rainbow Cycle helped get my 450 running good and I  recently bought an 09 KX250f. From what I can tell so far, it is best  250F I have ridden. I have raced the last two rounds of the Monster  Super Series at River Valley and finished 2nd to Terren O'dell at both  races.  I also went to a Labor Day race in Missouri only to leave  there injured after practice. I lost the front end going up the face  of a jump and the clutch lever and handlebars smashed my middle finger  when I hit the ground.

I am taking some time off to let it heal and  should be back racing at either the Easy Money Texas Pro-Am or Branson  Amateur Nationals the second weekend of October. That's it for now.  Check back again soon for more updates!

Last weekend I raced the Monster Super Series at River Valley MX.  The first moto I won with about an 8 sec. lead.  Unfortunately, in the second moto I went down in the second turn. I closed the gap significantly on the leader but ran out of time and finished the moto in second place. Over the next couple of days I will be finishing finals and moving  back to Rogers for the summer.  Rogers has a boxing gym and I am really looking forward to getting to  train there again. Those guys train harder than anyone I have ever seen and are awesome to feed off of. Check back for the next update  and better results!

Update .. The beginning of  March the weather was really good and I rode nearly everyday and I went to the Arkansas State Race on the 16th feeling good.  The first
moto of the lites class I started in about 6th or 7th and finished 2nd. The second moto I started in 2nd and stayed there until the clutches went out completely with a lap and half to go.  It was a new track next to the Arkansas river and the sand was super deep. I don't think I was the only one that had clutches burn up. I was determined to win the first 450 moto, since I normally do better on the bigger bike. I started in 5th, worked up to 3rd by the second lap.  I caught 1st and 2nd at the end of the 3rd lap and then went over the bars in a whooped out section. I was too anxious. haha. The second moto I rode  just to stay on two wheels and save the bike.  I went 7-4 in the 450 class.  It was kind of a rough day but I still had a lot of fun. The track was extreme rough and a lot of good guys showed up that I grew up racing with.  Anyways, I am pretty much just ready for summer.

Hey guys, thanks for checking out the site.  I owe it all to Jerry at 488 Motocross Web Design.  He is a new sponsor for 2008 and does a great job on websites.  I recently started a temporary job at H&R Block for the tax season, so I’ve been real busy with work and school.  But, I am getting some good practice at the house.

My roommates and I are getting the track technical and rough.  I plan to come out swinging at the Wellston round of Oklahoma State race March 2nd!  I am really excited about this year, and am looking forward to accomplishing my goals.  Well, that’s it for now. Be sure to visit my sponsor’s sites by clicking on the logos!

[30 Jan 08]  Welcome to Ben Schrik's new website where you will be able to track Ben's run in the professional motocross ranks across the country.  Check back and watch as the season progresses!
